27 Quick Marketing Activities To Check Off Your List

August feels like a good time to catch up on those tasks you’ve been putting off, while everyone (but you) seems to be out of town.

Website

Go through your website to make sure all the information (phone numbers, FAQs, etc.) is current and accurate.

  • Dig into your site analytics and figure out:
    • Where most of your website visitors are coming from.
    • Which web pages they spend the most time on.
    • Which pages generate the most leads.
    • Which pages have the highest bounce rate.
  • Use this information to fine-tune your content, landing pages, and calls to action.
  • Check all your links are current and working.
  • Make any updates to your business information on social media channels and Google My Business.

CRM and Email Marketing

  • Clean up your contact list.
  • Research a CRM platform (if you’re not using one already, or need an upgrade).
  • Segment the list by sales stage, i.e. friend/affiliate, prospect, qualified lead, customer, repeat customer, lapsed customer.
  • Review your email analytics. How can you ensure more click-thrus?
  • Segment your lists now for any holiday gifts and cards for your clients/customers.

Network

  • Attend a networking organization you haven't been to before.
  • Team up with your local Chamber of Commerce, business association, or other local business organization to plan group promotions for the holiday season.
  • Look for a charitable organization or nonprofit community group that your business can support.
  • Research upcoming community events your business could sponsor or participate in.
  • Research tradeshows to attend in the coming year, either as an exhibitor or an attendee.

Customers

  • Ask your best customers for referrals.
  • Request client testimonials you can use in your marketing materials.
  • Create recent case studies to promote your business.
  • Schedule catch-up calls or lunch with your biggest clients to see how you can better serve them in the coming year.
  • Enlist some satisfied clients to feature in a marketing video for your business.

Content

  • Start a blog/vlog on your website or social channels to share your expertise.
  • Research community organizations or industry associations that might be interested in hearing you speak.
  • Contact a blogger who’s a big name in your industry, or influential with your target market, to see if you can write a guest post for them.
  • Join or start a LinkedIn group relevant to your customers and contribute to the discussion.

Organize

  • Review your marketing materials, both print and digital. Toss/delete outdated logos, images, bios, etc.
  • Organize your marketing-related files in a way that makes sense to both you and your team so everything is easy to find when you need it.
